Vapor Barriers - Foundation Restoration
Our Solutions

Vapor Barriers

Vapor barriers are essential shields in basement remediation, seamlessly bridging the gap between waterproofing and structural preservation. Because concrete is porous, it naturally absorbs moisture from the surrounding soil like a sponge. A heavy-duty plastic vapor barrier, installed over foundation walls or crawl space floors, blocks this migrating water vapor from entering the indoor air. Instead, it safely redirects dampness downward into an interior drainage system.

By keeping the basement environment dry, the barrier prevents mold growth and stops the cycle of moisture weakening the concrete. This protection is critical during foundation repair. Excess moisture causes expansive clay soils to swell and crack walls, while water freezing inside those cracks accelerates structural failure. When paired with structural reinforcements like carbon fiber straps, a vapor barrier protects the new repairs from ongoing water damage, ensuring the foundation remains stable and the home stays dry.
