Interior Drainage Systems

Interior drainage systems—commonly consisting of perforated drain tiles or French drains—are the ultimate defense against hydrostatic pressure, seamlessly combining basement waterproofing with foundation preservation. As groundwater rises beneath a home, it exerts immense upward pressure on the concrete slab and pushes against foundation footings, causing floor cracks, wall bowing, and leaks. An interior drainage system relieves this pressure by capturing water before it enters the living space.

Installed in a trench dug around the inside perimeter of the basement floor, the perforated pipe is surrounded by washed gravel to filter out debris. It intercepts rising groundwater and leaking wall moisture, channeling it safely to a sump pump, which ejects the water away from the home. By permanently lowering the water table beneath the slab, this system prevents the soil shifting and concrete erosion that cause foundations to settle, keeping the structure stable and the basement dry.
